Not only does the shrink sleeve allow for original containers, both in non-standard forms and in effective colors, but there is also a possibility that can prove to be very interesting: transparency.

It is indeed, very easy to design transparent “windows”; spaces on the label allowing us to see the product. Showing the product inspires confidence, displaying what the opaque bottle contains and enticing consumers to try the product.

Transparency therefore, becomes a selling point. It shows that the producer has confidence in their product and wants to put forward (and not disguise it) behind impressive packaging.

Nevertheless, we must remain vigilant and ensure that this transparent ‘window’ is not generating the opposite effect of why it is there. Indeed, transparency may also reveal something other than the product, such as the material imperfections, variations in the production process or traces on the substrate (the plastic of the label). In fact, the substrate is rarely perfectly transparent. In this case, wanting to play the transparency card can give a false impression of the product. The consumer may feel cheated between what they thought they were buying and what they actually get in the end.

It is therefore important to make the wise decision. If showing the product behind the packaging is your priority, the shrink sleeve label will do; providing you choose the substrate and that you ensure a perfect application. Otherwise, if you can do without this transparency, be sure to show your brand with a white or clear background for an elegant and effective presentation.
